Why image dimensions matter as much as quality
A large photo can contain far more pixels than an upload form needs. Resizing it first can reduce its file size substantially. Keep the original, choose the dimensions needed for your destination, and inspect the result before sharing.
Choosing an image format
JPEG works well for photographs but doesn’t preserve transparency. PNG preserves transparency and sharp edges but ignores the browser’s lossy quality slider. WebP can offer smaller files with transparency; check that your destination accepts it.
What a target size means
A target like 50 KB is a goal, not a guarantee. Our compressor tries quality settings and then smaller dimensions. If the target cannot be reached within the tool’s limits, it tells you. Always check the exact downloaded size against your upload form’s rules.
